ALOHA SHIRT“MANDARA”

1970年代に京都で捺染され、アメリカにシャツ生地として輸出されたデザイン。当時の資料は生地しか現存しておらず、シャツとして生産したメーカーやブランドは未だに判明していなく、謎が多いことから希少価値の高いものとなっている。デザインの元となっているのは『タンカ』と呼ばれるチベット仏教の掛け軸で、チベットの仏教美術にみられるモチーフがプリントされている。『マンダラ』とは、サンスクリット語で円輪という意味を持ち、神仏が集会する『曼荼羅』として日本の文化にも伝存している。身幅とアームホールを広めに設定したボックスシルエットのオープンシャツは、パネル部分をレッドとブラックの配色で構成したgoldオリジナルの配色。本水牛釦を使用しているのも特徴。
