"MOUNTAIN RESEARCH" designer Setsumasa Kobayashi has a pair of authentic Japanese mountaineering shoes in his early archives that he feels particularly attached to. The times have changed and it is not possible to make them now. This "KEEN × MOUNTAIN RESEARCH, Pyrenees" is the product of such a pair together with KEEN. The base model of the collaboration is the “PYRENEES,” the standard hiking shoes from KEEN, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2024. The all-leather light hiking shoes with a classic European design. It is the popular model that blends TARGHEE's high-performance sole system with a classic leather upper. The upper is made of supple and durable waterproof suede. Traditional mountain shoe-inspired leather is used intentionally for the footbed and lining, rather than functional materials. “KEEN.DRY”, a waterproof and breathable material with excellent breathability, is used in some parts of the shoes to cope with various kinds of bad weather conditions. Also, the imprint typical of "MOUNTAIN RESEARCH" has been applied throughout. The heel capture system secures the heel and provides firm stability. "KEEN.ALL-TERRAIN." rubber outsole provides high traction grip and supports a comfortable walk in the field.
