A sumi-e-style dragon pattern that faithfully reproduces a vintage Aloha shirt from the 1950s by the Hawaiian manufacturer “Kalakaua.” Japanese-style patterns and kabe crepe fabric are rare for Kalakaua, and original vintage pieces are traded among collectors at high prices. Using the same resist dyeing and hand-printing techniques as the original, this design requires the meticulous skills of craftsmen from the very process of carving the patterns. GOLD’s signature open-collar shirt features a boxy silhouette with a generous body width and armholes, and incorporates genuine water buffalo buttons.
